Love mathematics and books?  Looking for a stimulating and fun discussion? Volumes, the MoMath book club, is just the thing for you. This reading group is designed especially for those interested in mathematics and science and how it affects our lives. No prior math or science background is necessary.

Come to Volumes on June 9 to talk about Flatterland: Like Flatland Only More So, by Ian Stewart. Stewart has also recently published an annotated Flatland so if you want a Flatland refresher before reading June’s selection, you may want to pick that up. Both books are available in Additions, the MoMath gift shop.

Summary: First there was Edwin A. Abbott's remarkable Flatland, published in 1884, one of the all-time classics of popular mathematics. Now, mathematician and accomplished science writer Ian Stewart, brings us what Nature calls "a superb sequel.” Flatterland explores our present understanding of the shape and origins of the universe, the nature of space, time, and matter, as well as modern geometries and their applications.
