Solve Some (SCRABBLE®) Tiling Problems!

The National Museum of Mathematics is pleased to invite you to a game of SCRABBLE® with 3-time National Champion Joe Edley! A featured player in the acclaimed documentary Word Wars, Edley is the co-author of Everything Scrabble®, Third Edition and the brain-training puzzle book Anagrammar.

Bring your own board and let Edley teach you some of the tips and tricks that can not only add a whole lot of enjoyment to your gameplay, but also boost your scores. Find out how to use two-letter words and bonus squares more effectively; discover why the letters you leave on your rack are just as important as the ones you play to the board; and learn some useful mnemonics and a powerful method for easily finding 7- and 8-letter words.

A veteran of 35 years of SCRABBLE® tournament and club play and over 20 years as Director of Clubs and Tournaments for the National SCRABBLE® Association, Joe Edley will share some of the funny (11 points), ironic (8 points), incredible (15 points), and amazing (38 points, double word score) stories of his life as a SCRABBLE® legend!
