MathHappening: Pythagorize Seattle
It's Seattle's turn for an all-new MathHappening! MoMath is teaming up with the Pacific Science Center this August in honor of Seattle's historic Triangle Pub. The Triangle Pub was selected from triangular buildings around the country because its dimensions measure 8 meters x 15 meters x 17 meters — a Pythagorean triple that just happens to correspond with the date. What better place to celebrate Pythagoras Day 2015?
So, on 8/17/15, hundreds of Seattle-based math lovers can join MoMath and the Pacific Science Center to become part of the nation's largest-ever human illustration of the Pythagorean Theorem. More details will be released soon, but plan to bring or sport your favorite right triangle, and you may find your image on the websites of two of the nation's most innovative, cutting edge museums.
Pythagorize Seattle promises to be the biggest, most amazing mathematics demonstration Seattle has ever seen. Register now to help celebrate the city, this landmark building, and centuries of mathematics through this exciting, not-to-be-missed, free MathHappening event!
Note, this will be even larger than the NYC 2013 Pythagorize the Flatiron celebration, in which New Yorkers lit up the night in a stunning illuminated demonstration of the famous theorem! To learn more about that event, click here.
